The Iowa High School Sports Network (IHSSN) is a privately held company based in Emerson, Iowa. IHSSN owns the exclusive media rights to many of the Iowa boys’ state championship events.
Today, the IHSSN is proud to broadcast over 90 Iowa boys’ state championship events each year, including state football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, co-ed track and soccer. Select events are aired on our Broadcast TV Network and Cable Network, while all events are streamed through IHSSN’s streaming platforms.
We are committed to bringing high school sports fans the best coverage of state championship events and showcasing the state’s elite talent; and we believe that sports are a positive part of the overall educational experience and one that brings families and friends together. In short, our passion is showcasing Iowa high school sports, their schools, and communities.
IHSSN holds certain exclusive event media rights pursuant to an agreement with the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). IHSSN is solely responsible for its media productions, including the pay-per-view platform, and is neither a partner of nor affiliated in any way with IHSAA. All inquiries regarding such media productions should be directed to IHSSN and not IHSAA.
It’s as simple as going to the IHSSN website at www.ihssn.com and signing up for an account. If you already have an IHSSN account, you do not need to create a new account. You can also download the Watch IHSSN app on your favorite iOS and Android devices, as well as several streaming services. Once you have an account, you select the event you want to watch.
Beginning in November 2024, all state tournament finals will be streamed for free. Preliminary events will have charge.
1. Go to ihssn.com.
2. Click on, “Purchase Game”.
3. Select the game you want to view.
4. Make the purchase with your credit card.
5. Open the Roku App and select the WatchIHSSN App.
6. Then, select the game you purchased in the library catalog and start viewing.
7. Make sure your WatchIHSSN app on Roku has the same set of credentials as those used to purchase the game on ihssn.com. (Username and password)
a. Otherwise, you will not be able to see the game on Roku.
b. You will still be able to see the game through ihssn.com.

5. Open your Amazon Fire TV select the WatchIHSSN App.
6. Then, select the game you purchased in the library catalog and start viewing.
7. Make sure your WatchIHSSN app on Amazon Fire TV has the same set of credentials as those used to purchase the game on ihssn.com. (Username and password)
a. Otherwise, you will not be able to see the game through Amazon Fire TV.
b. You will still be able to see the game through ihssn.com.
The "Game Pass" is only good for a single quarterfinal or semifinal purchase. All finals are streamed for free.
No. There is no auto renewal or subscription. This is a one-time purchase.
Yes. Quarterfinal and semifinal games are aired on the IHSSN Cable Network. Championship games are aired on the IHSSN Broadcast Network. Check local listings for details.
No. Contrary to popular belief, the boys’ state championships have never aired on Iowa Public Television (IPTV). The exclusive broadcast rights are solely with the Iowa High School Sports Network (IHSSN).
Yes. Our app is called, “Watch IHSSN” and is free to download on iOS and Android devices, as well as Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku.
Yes. Viewers can access games easily through IHSSN.com. Simply open your favorite web browser and follow the instructions.
Yes. We offer viewership on up to two devices concurrently making it convenient to watch your favorite team(s) at any time and from anywhere.
Not at this time.
During the regular season, you may be able to watch your favorite team’s games or matches free via a channel or source provided by your school. IHSSN only broadcasts the championships for Iowa boys’ high school sports. These broadcasts can be viewed live and for free on partner cable television and broadcast television affiliates throughout Iowa. Finals are also free to stream, but their is a nominal fee to stream quarterfinals and semifinals.
Archives prior to 2020 are free to watch and do not require any purchase to view them. We have many seasons of archives dating back to the early 2000’s and some archives dating back to 1981. Archives from 2021 to present can be purchased or rented. Enjoy!
